General characteristics of the Barbary macaquesThe Barbary macaque or magot is the only species of monkey in Europe. Its range is limited to the Rock of Gibraltar. In Africa, it lives in oak and cedar forests of the Middle Atlas between 1500 and 2000 meters above sea level.
